‘Cobra Kai’ Cast Member Xolo Maridueña Says Peyton List’s Karate Was ‘Pretty Trash’ At First

the Cobra Kai the cast members all train in martial arts for their roles. Each season relies more and more on their skills as they acquire new abilities. Now many of the Cobra Kai cast members have five practice seasons, or at least four for those who started Season 2. Peyton List, who plays Tory, can get the most improved award. At least that’s what Xolo Maridueña thinks.

Maridueña and List spoke during an online Q&A after the premiere of Cobra Kai Season 4, episode 1 on December 28. Asked about the Cobra Kai the cast’s karate skills, Maridueña credited List for her vast improvement.

Season 2 introduced Tory, a new student of Cobra Kai. Her flirtatious fight with Miguel (Maridueña) led to a romance, but when Miguel got back together with Samantha (Mary Mouser), Tory went on the warpath.

“I will say there is an honorable mention,” said Maridueña at the Q&A. “Peyton came into our second season knowing no karate and took it like it’s nobody’s business. I had my first fight with her and she kinda sucked but she recovered well. She definitely brought it.

List was surprised by Maridueña’s compliment.

“I didn’t expect this,” she said. “Thank you.”

For his part, List admired some of them Cobra Kai castmates who had been training since Season 1.

“I would say Jacob [Bertrand] and Tanner [Buchanan], I think,” List said. “I was waiting to see them fight in real life.”

If she had to choose one? “I would say Jacob.”

Cobra Kai season 4 has become even more demanding of List.

“Pay attention to Season 4,” List said. “I think the action is getting a lot bigger and we had to train a lot harder, season 4.”

At the end of Cobra Kai Season 2, List had to be ready for the high school fight. Season 3 piled on plenty of other fights, including the LaRusso house robbery in the season finale. Season 4 has a lot more fights, culminating in the All-Valley Karate Tournament in the two-episode season finale.

“We just started training from the start of the season,” List said. “It was a mess. Every time we had a fight scene, it was like okay, the weekend before, we’re going to train as much as we can and try to do as much as we can. We We were getting the scripts at the last minute, we were just trying to follow everything as we went in. A lot of things are really last minute, but we practice every day for hours.
