The big trend lately has been UFC fighters wanting to get into boxing and fight Jake Paul. The YouTuber turned boxer managed to get a lot of attention in boxing and got some great matches.
Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren are among the UFC veterans to have boxed against Jake Paul. The results were not good for them.
Jake Paul beat Tyron Woodley by decision and Askren was quickly knocked out in the first round. Neither man was proud of their performance against the controversial internet star.
The key that both UFC fighters got the fight with was that they were both out of contract. The two men were able to negotiate fights outside of the promotion.
Joe Rogan recently gave his opinion on the matter. Rogan spoke about the subject on his Podcast with guest Snoop Dogg.
“For them [UFC fighters] to break free from a UFC contract they currently have, I don’t think Dana White is going to do that. Maybe if they thought they could make a lot of money and that there was someone like a current UFC fighter and they could fix it.
UFC President Dana White has made it clear that he has no interest in working with Jake Paul and will make no exceptions to have his athletes compete with him. It might sound harsh, but the two have a long standing beef.
Joe Rogan made a good point and it’s obvious that UFC fighters will have to wait until their contracts expire before they fight Jake Paul or anyone in the boxing ring. It might be frustrating, but it’s the complicated world of combat sports.
