Netflix’s Witcher Prequel Makes Michelle Yeoh a Sword Elf

Michelle Yeoh joins the cast of The Witcher: Origin of Blood, Netflix’s six-part spin-off of its live-action TV adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels. The streaming service announced that the veteran of the hit film will play “Scían”, bringing star power and action skills to his role as the last remaining member of a “sword elf” tribe.

According to Netflix, Scían is in search of a stolen sacred sword, which probably leads her to cross Origin of bloodThe other member of the announced cast, Laurence O’Fuarian as Fjall. Some blood Origin focuses on the creation of the first Witcher prototype (mutant monster hunters for those not in the know) and the events that led to the “Conjunction of the Spheres”, a cosmic event that brought the elven world to enter Colliding Realms – creating the continent of magic and monsters from the original novels, CD Projekt Red video games and the Netflix series.

Yeoh’s most recent TV project was Star Trek: Discovery, and his long Hollywood career has covered everything from Crazy Rich Asians to James Bond. But she is perhaps best known for her extensive filmography in Hong Kong, where she notably performed many of her own stunts.. The actress has fought many villains, big machines, and even a stop-motion skeleton. His background in stellar on-screen fight scenes is what makes any blade-based endeavor that Scían takes on the most exciting. If you haven’t seen Wing chun or Reign of the Assassins, it’s usually a good idea to give Michelle Yeoh a sword.

The Witcher: Origin of Blood is probably still a long way off, but Netflix has more Witcher news to share this week: The streaming service is hosting a virtual WitcherCon alongside game developer CD Projekt Red on July 9.
