The National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) organized its second virtual seminar for general secretaries.
General Secretaries and representatives of 22 National Federations (NFs) attended the event online.
Four sessions were held on the programs of Olympic Solidarity, Safe Sport, the Paralympic Movement in Zambia and the OYDC Zambia Sports Development Center.
At the opening of the seminar, NOCZ President Alfred Foloko said: “It is vital that sports organizations continue to adapt, renew and develop through creative and innovative ideas.
“Various strategies need to be applied for sports associations / organizations to change the way we play, view and organize sport amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “
The seminar brought together representatives of the Zambian Baseball and Softball Association, Zambia Badminton, the Zambian Table Tennis Association, the Zambian Judo Association, the Zambian Swimming Union, the Zambian Football Association, Zambia Skateboarding Association and Zambia College Sports Association, Zambia Handball Association, Zambia. Hockey Association, Zambia Volleyball Association, Zambia Boxing Federation, Zambia Chess Federation, Zambia Cycling Association, Zambia Basketball Federation, Zambia Rowing and Canoe Association, Association Zambia Bowling Association, National Riding Federation of Zambia, Taekwondo Association of Zambia, Tennis Association of Zambia and the Squash Association of Zambia.
During the seminar, the general secretaries of some federations shared updates on the implementation of governance standards within their organizations.
Action points following the meeting included finalizing all ongoing governance issues within NFs, with NOC sharing details of Olympic Solidarity programs available and NFs developing a code of ethics and creating an athletes’ commission.
