ESPN video resurfaces of Tom Holland showing off his boxing skills, possibly during training for Spider-Man: No Way Home reshoots.
A new training video from Spider Man actor Tom Holland showed off his impressive boxing skills. Holland’s breakout role came in 2012 when he appeared in JA Bayona The impossible alongside Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. While the film was well received and was even nominated for an Oscar, Holland only became a household name until he appeared in Captain America: Civil War like Spider-Man.
Spider-Man being one of the most popular Marvel heroes, many have been waiting for the character to join the MCU. In February 2015, Marvel struck a deal with Sony to include Spidey in the MCU, and later that year Holland was cast to play Peter Parker. Holland’s background in gymnastics and dance made him a good candidate for the role. Being only 20 in 2016 also allowed him to play the part of a high school student in a compelling way, something the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield films couldn’t quite do. Like most MCU actors, Holland strengthened himself for the role and continued to train for his multiple appearances at Marvel.
A new video from ESPN at ringside shows Holland boxing with a trainer. While the video recently resurfaced, this workout dates back to July 2021. The full video of Holland’s impressive boxing moves can be seen below:
Holland’s Future as Peter Parker After Spider-Man: No Path Home is currently unknown. 2019 saw a brief scare that Spider-Man would be removed from the MCU, but with the web-slinger being one of the MCU’s most popular characters, it’s possible Disney will continue to strike a deal with Sony. Sony is expanding its Spider-Man franchise with movies like Venom: let there be carnage and Morbius, both of which are said to have ties to the MCU. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but the two studios could benefit from bridging the two cinematic universes.
Holland has remained in shape in recent years due to his involvement in the MCU and Unexplored. The Spider Man the sequel finished filming in March, and then underwent reshoots in August. With this video originally shot in July, Holland was likely practicing filming additional scenes for Spider-Man: No Path Home. While the video above is an interesting look at Holland’s workout routine, the actor is unlikely to share more workout videos for a while. Holland was not announced for anything in the past Unexplored, the actor can therefore take some time off from the punching bags.
